X launches Ads MCP server, letting advertisers build campaigns via Claude, ChatGPT

Advertisers running campaigns on X can now skip the ads dashboard and write a prompt instead. X's new Ads Model Context Protocol server connects any LLM agent, from Claude and ChatGPT to custom builds on the MCP SDKs, to 23 X Ads tools for reading campaign data, running analytics and managing live ads. A typical prompt might read: "launch a campaign for the fall drop, $15k over two weeks, US only, goal is to drive sales." The launch places X alongside Meta, Pinterest, TikTok and Snapchat, each of which rolled out its own MCP server over the past year, and follows last week's addition of text overlays for short-form video on the platform.
Campaign setup moves from dashboard clicks to natural-language prompts, cutting the steps between a media plan and a live buy on X. Planners who already run budgets and creative decisions through Claude or ChatGPT gain a direct channel into X's ad account, folded into the same AI tools they use for other buying platforms. Teams still need to check that AI-generated campaigns match brand safety and budget rules before launch, since a single prompt can create and spend against a live budget. With Meta, Pinterest, TikTok and Snapchat all offering the same access, agencies managing spend across platforms can standardize campaign creation on one AI interface across their client roster.
