Beginning in 2027, YouTube Premium subscribers will get Peacock's ad-supported tier included in their subscription at no extra charge, under a multiyear global distribution deal NBCUniversal announced with YouTube. Amy Geary, EVP of platform distribution and partnerships at NBCUniversal, said the tie-up is meant to put Peacock in front of younger viewers who already watch content on YouTube, with the goal of growing Peacock subscriptions and watch time. NBCU is pursuing the deal while it prepares to spin off from Comcast as its own publicly traded entertainment company. Geary tied it to a broader push toward what she calls "immediacy": live sports and appointment-style entertainment, including the return of MLB to NBC and Peacock this year, additional NBA games, and events like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, all meant to recreate the appointment-viewing habits of the cable era.

Campaigns planned against Peacock gain exposure to YouTube's mobile-first, younger audience without agencies negotiating a separate YouTube buy, and NBCU's emphasis on live sports and FAST channels signals where premium, appointment-viewing inventory will concentrate. Geary said NBCU judges these distribution deals by one measure: "We always focus on incremental reach and frequency as one of our primary metrics of success." That framing gives buyers a way to evaluate the YouTube tie-up and NBCU's other distribution partnerships beyond raw subscriber counts, weighing how much incremental audience and frequency each placement adds on top of Peacock's owned-and-operated reach.
